Shoyoroll makes more than Gis - The 13 on the 13th

We’re always impressed by Shoyroll designs and these new rashguards are no exception. The color choices are great too and refreshing and not the usual color palette of Jiu Jitsu. Who knew they could make baby blue and purple look so good!

Asymmetric design is always a plus in our books. It’s unconventional and risky and often poorly executed but Shoyoroll pulls it off nicely.

A fully sublimated design means the logo won’t crack or peal (Is that in issue anymore?) Basically, the color will last forever!

Limited Edition release I’m sure. Check ‘em out!

Fortunately this guy is alright. I think this speaks to the importance of drilling something before attempting it.

IBJJF Pro League 2013 Live Broadcast and replay

Probably the best deal in BJJ programming! The replay for the 2013 IBJJF pro league is now available for only $6.99!

Some pretty sick matches for sure! Samir Chantre, Rafael Freitas, Roberto “Tussa” Alencar, Keenan Cornelius, Jackson Sousa, Victor Estima and a few more.

Of course Shawn Williams, Budo Jake and Caleb were there to call all the action and in Jiu Jitsu streaming Budo Quality!

The whole event is worth watching just for Keenan’s epic back take while his opponent attempts to sweep him from Deep Half Guard! Good stuff!

Check out the replay here:

Vlad Koulikov Sambo BJJ Fusion

Most Americans or let’s just say American grapplers are pretty unfamiliar with the Russian Martial Art of Sambo. It was derived from Japanese Judo and encompasses several different forms; Sport sambo, Combat Sambo and a few others.
Vlad Koulikov is considered a Sambo Master. He started training when he was about 8 years old. Moved to the states and regularly trains in Judo and BJJ to compliment his Sambo. He’s a true student of the game or of grappling in general.

We recently shot a DVD of Sambo that is pretty useful for a lot of grapplers. Some of it is useful for both sport and self defense and maybe even a little bit of MMA.. I know for one thing, it’s quite brutal.

Check out a preview of The DVDs!

Rolled Up Episode 36 - Marcelo Garcia

We were in New York in April of 2012 to cover the New York Open for IBJJF TV. When covering events out of California we try to hit up a local school to do an episode of Rolled Up. In New York we have a few really great options; Renzo Gracie, Shaolin, Alliance of New York and of course Marcelo Garcia. We arrived on a Wednesday evening hoping to shoot Marcelo on Thursday and Friday but he came down with the flu so we had to put off the shoot. To make best use of our time we  visited Alliance New York to shoot an episode with Sinistro, Babs and Fabio Clemente. You can see the episode here http://youtu.be/xDq4MfYAUMQ We also spent time with Stephen Koepfer of American combat Sambo http://youtu.be/Jf0mVCDra5I

By Monday Marcelo was feeling better and we made it down to his academy. The training looked amazing and everyone was very welcoming to us while we were there with our cameras. The first interview took place in Madison Square park which is adjacent to a New York landmark, the Flat Iron building and not to far from the original shake shack. From there we headed back to his academy and finished the interview in the subway.

We came back the next day to get an interview with Marcelo’s wife, Tattiana. I think most people will be surprised to know that she’s a black belt herself and reveals some interesting things about Marcelo.

Overall our experience in New York was great. Marcelo’s, his wife and entire team were really great people.

The episode was originally slated to premier in early October but we’ve been slammed with quite a few projects like the Masters and Seniors Worlds, Boston Open, Las Vegas Open, Atlanta open, etc… I’m finally happy to say that the episode is now available and for the first time in full 1080P!

Enjoy!
